Vintage design made easy

Vintage Secrets

One of the most popular styles we found in the last few years has been the Vintage look. This is the best " Out with the New and In with the Old" style you could do.

Vintage - rustic - shabby chic - what ever you call it , its still old. What is a name anyway ?

Is the Vintage look hard to do ?

Not at all. We want to share with you some easy ways to make your wedding or event look and feel like its been done by a designer ( shhhhh.... no one needs to know )

Most brides start looking at ideas months, if not years before their wedding. Pinterest.com and even Google search bring up hundreds of Vintage looks that anyone can create.

Lets start by looking at some areas of the wedding where the vintage look stands out.

The Guest Book Table -

                                                         Los Angeles - Details Details

A place to allow people to sit and write something for the couple. To keep the vintage theme you only need to look around your house or parents or your grandparents. We are sure you will find a side-table or dressing table that would work. Adding small items to dress the table - from old handheld mirrors , table mirror, picture frames, old books and even a jar of Troach Drops

See this nice design of old suitcases used to add more to the area -

Most local markets or Car boot sales sell these for a few pennies or pounds and as you can see adds a very Vintage feel to the design. Wild flowers add that extra touch and an old bike.  You have to ask yourself then where do you think most planners that do a vintage theme for your wedding get all their stuff !!

While you may not have time to walk around the markets and car boot sales, you can find everything on the internet from second hand websites in your area.

The dinner table -

First rule in design is Less is More. Start collecting old jam jars, coffee jars, old sweet jars, wine bottles and even milk bottles. Again look round the Car Boots for some old wine bottles and jars. These can be great flower holders for the tables and make the perfect vintage centre piece. Dont stop at just those things, know if your thinking like a designer you will also look for old water jugs, old type writers, anything you would say normally - my great grandmother  had that !!!

Using old books adds that little something extra that comes from a designer and to add that more Vintage feel try putting the books in tea water - to give it that old vintage look. No tea ? then a trip to the book market or car boot will do the trick. The older the better, look for ones that are with the old style fronts and sides.  (you could use books that people will find funny, just think of your friends )

The surrounding  -

Already you should start to be thinking old. Lanterns are needed for night time, and you can make some great lanterns to hang from the tress with jam jars.  Even having a chill out area made of straw bails adds that feeling that you have had a designer in. At night with candles it looks amazing.

You could even make the bar area from bails of straw and old wine barrels.

Of course this is just some ideas to help you with your wedding design. If your on a budget then these ideas will not cost you a lot and could just give your wedding that little extra look your dreamed of.
